What’s not to love about a shirt that can be worn in so many ways? This little number has many fun elements it has stripes, ruffles and the “must” have color pop of the season. Its versatility makes it a must buy of the season!
I had so much fun at the Spring Brook Farm in Littleton, Ma, if you haven’t been you should make a special trip and visit this wonderland of local fruits, veggies, meats and lets not even mention the handmade farm fresh baked goodies!!!
When I have clients that need some sprucing up with seasonal decor, this is my number one spot to hit for beautiful decorative items, and flowers I can never resist leaving without buying a treat for myself!
Its longevity of 300 years is not by luck, they pride themselves with every little detail that goes into running this beautiful Farm and store. The merchandising is impeccable every corner and inch of this place is an Instagramable moment! There is a reason why it has been voted one of one thousand great places to visit.
I always wanted to do a photo shoot here and this was the perfect occasion to do it!
I really enjoy mix and matching styles to create a unique look for myself, as well as getting the most out of my wardrobe. Because I can not be on a farm and not wear overalls, I chose this as my first look, and quite honestly I love being able to move around freely without wondering if I am exposing myself to innocent bystanders.
I know many people are a little skeptical about overalls, and in the 90’s they were much baggier and less feminine, but finding the right pair for your body type is key. I find that its best to stick to a more fitted pair with almost suspender like straps in the back. That way the back they look and fit like jeans without all that extra fabric on the back, but just enough to give some coverage. Pairing this feminine flirty top with them also softens the overall (no pun intended) look.
You can see behind this darling little cart that there is a beautifully drawn chalkboard sign welcoming all to this stunning farm since 1713 that has been passed down 9 generations.
Layering a sweater can change an outfit, in this case, it dresses it up a bit, I know that we are talking about overalls being dressed up, but it can happen, trust me. If I had paired this look up with sneakers and a baseball cap and a backpack it would feel completely different and more casual.
Details are important because this look was farm themed I didn’t want to go overboard and make it look like a costume or look like I was trying too hard to fit the part. Adding in in a fun pair of earrings, heel booties and a tote did the trick. Also when layering over a statement or trend piece it can “hide” the elements of what makes it trendy, here the sweater hides the ruffle on the sleeve, becoming into just a stripe round neck shirt!
Can you believe how beautiful this place is? It is what every farm wants to be. Even their signs are handmade… talk about farmhouse chic!
Next up.. Pattern smashing!! If you haven’t noticed by now I REALLY enjoy an animal print especially leopard, for interiors I am on a snow leopard kick… hmmm more on that later! Because right now I can’t get enough of this shirt!! I couldn’t wait to pair it up with this skirt, I have had this skirt for years, and it has never let me down. It adds a little twist to what normally would be a basic pencil skirt. This shirt is long enough to tuck in, so go ahead and tuck yourself! When wearing a knee length or slightly above the knee pencil skirt tucking your shirt in elongates your legs. Now, who doesn’t want logo looking legs?
This look can bring you from shopping to a night out, don’t be afraid to switch it up. If leopard isn’t your jam, go with a black or even burnt orange skirt. They both will be great options, for accessories, nix the hat add a scarf with a fun print! I chose to keep it a little more casual with the booties, but if you wanted to wear this to work, a flat or a cute pump would look amazing!
This is what I call day to day casual, you know the days when you just grab whatever and go? It was a bit chilly on this day so I added a cozy hooded faux shearling jacket. This shirt is the perfect length whether you want to do a semi-tuck, full tuck or a just an untucked look. It has a straight cut perfect for hiding that little bit of something that wants to peak out of the top of our jeans. I added a cute necklace to add personal flair, and to give this casual outfit a little boost.
I wear this type of look often when running around doing errands or while on drop off/ pick up duty. When I am looking for just day to day stuff, I try to keep in mind a few things, is it comfortable, is it easy to put on, will it work well with what I already own and of course is it cute. Having a sense of what your needs are out of your wardrobe will save you so much time and money.
So many pumpkins so little time! These little guys are the perfect size for small decor spots like mantels, side tables, bathrooms, and even kitchen counters, they are great when I have guests over, using them for tablescape accents or even place card holders.
As I wore my last look at the farm I tried to make friends with these adorable cows. They were friendly enough to all come over but they were not impressed with my outfit. I think it had to do with it not being edible or that I had nothing yummy to offer them. None the less they were cute!
Loving the contrast of the high waisted black pant with the mustard gold stripes, this look could be recreated with black denim, flats or even sneakers for a more casual vibe.
I hope this post has given you some inspiration by giving you some ideas on how to mix and match to create more looks and get the most out of your wardrobe. It is not about quantity it is about finding the best match for your style and closet.
Here are a few more fun tops including the one I wore (which btw is on sale) :
